Rebuilding After the Election: Navigating the Political Divide at Work
2024 can be seen as a year of division in many ways, culminating with a polarizing election. And while politics used to be a taboo topic in the workplace, it is now widely discussed. This has led to division amongst teams and has impacted many company cultures.
This workshop will focus on the things we can do in our workplaces to rebuild a healthy culture, starting with effective communication techniques. We will discuss how to have challenging conversations in ways that demonstrate respect, inclusiveness, and dignity for everyone involved. Thoughtful interactive exercises and reflective conversations help create a safe space to learn, while weaving in values clarification and specific communication skill development.
Learn the techniques you need to communicate effectively, listen actively, navigate conflict, articulate your values, and more.
- Effective Communication Techniques: Learning how to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure everyone feels heard and understood.
- Conflict Resolution: Developing strategies to manage and resolve conflicts in a constructive manner.
Building Inclusivity: Creating an environment where all team members feel valued and included, regardless of their political views or backgrounds. - Values Clarification: Identifying and understanding the core values that drive our behaviors and decisions, and how to align them with the company’s mission.
- Skill Development: Enhancing specific communication skills such as active listening, empathy, and assertiveness.
Interactive Exercises: Engaging in thoughtful interactive exercises that promote learning through doing. - Reflective Conversations: Facilitating reflective conversations that encourage self-awareness and personal growth.
- Creating Safe Spaces: Establishing a safe space for open dialogue and mutual respect.
By the end of this workshop, you will have practical tools and strategies to foster a more cohesive and supportive workplace culture.
