One of Seasonal Spectacular’s top-rated sessions!
The Exchange: A Conflict Management Strategy for Leaders
Workplace leaders have many regular tasks, one of which is conflict resolution. The most effective approach empowers employees to be fully engaged in the process. That premise is at the core of The Exchange, an interactive workshop developed by the National Conflict Resolution Center (NCRC). When utilized in an organization, The Exchange fosters a culture where each person is allowed to share their perspective and be heard by their leader. They work together to identify possible solutions.
The Exchange works because it considers and values the interests of all parties: the organization, its leadership, and participating employees. It helps leaders identify the underlying needs of their employees, helping everyone move beyond the surface-level complaints to long-term solutions. The workshop is designed with adult learning theory in mind. Through observation and practice, using realistic scenarios, participants learn practical principles for successfully managing conflict, and gain confidence using them.
By the end of the course, participants will have the ability to:
- Utilize an interest-based approach for managing workplace conflicts;
- Help all team members involved take accountability for both the issue and its solution;
- Create strong internal models of healthy conflict resolution behavior
- Intervene in conflict situations before they escalate and require formal dispute resolution.

"I attended a similar session of Ashley’s at Seasonal Spectacular last year, and let me just say this session had it all! After a succinct presentation, we learned about ourselves and how we communicate, and then put it into practice with some role play. It is always challenging to get outside your comfort zone, but Ashley made it feel easy and worthwhile."
