She is living her passion of helping leaders sharpen their focus, evolve the conversation, drive consensus, and ensure lasting change. Alison is a former CAE and is a graduate of Western Society of Chamber Executives Academy program.

She designed and delivered countless times a core curriculum on nonprofit finance and law in Washington State. Nancy is a teacher, instructional designer, and learning strategist known for creating nonprofit learning experiences that move people to action. A former teacher who served nonprofits as Executive Director, program director, board member, and volunteer, she has made a career of creating and leading learning programs, including one that won the Golden Apple Award. She has trained thousands of people speaking on learning and leadership. Her books and blogs cover topics at the intersection of learning and nonprofits.
In an era of increasing distrust in societal structures, ethics is becoming more and more important for associations and the professionals who run them. This session will provide an introductory overview of ethics for the association professional. In this session, attendees will recognize the difference between ethical, legal, and moral issues. Three examples of ethical challenges in association management will be reviewed. Finally, attendees will learn at least 3 strategies for managing ethical issues. This session is intended to meet the one hour ethics requirement for association professionals seeking or renewing their CAE.
Nabil El-Ghoroury, PhD, CAE, recently completed four years as the Executive Director of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT). He earned his PhD in clinical psychology at Binghamton University. Prior to CAMFT, he directed the graduate student office at the American Psychological Association.Nabil was recognized as an emerging association leader by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) when he was invited into the Diversity Executive Leadership Program (DELP; 2016-2018 cohort). In 2018 he earned the CAE credential. He recently completed a term as Co-Chair of the CalSAE DEI Task Force and one year as Chair of the ASAE Ethics Committee. Nabil is currently serving on the ASE Board of Directors. Nabil has spoken at a number of ASAE and other association events. His topics of expertise include self-care for the CEO, ethics in association management, and innovative strategies with chapters/components. He is bilingual (English/Spanish) and has spoken on five continents.

Laurel Nava serves CITE as Director of Education & Partnerships. In this role, she oversees all education programs, including the flagship Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Mentor Program. Additionally, Laurel is responsible for the Annual Conference and all other events, along with advocacy efforts and sponsor partnerships. Previously, Laurel served as a Program Associate for the California Comprehensive Center at the nonprofit organization WestEd, where she provided the California Department of Education (CDE), State Board of Education (SBE), and local educational agencies with professional development, process improvement/implementation, and evaluation services.
